Marine Wildlife & Plants

The Kilmore area is abundant with marine wildlife, such as dolphins, whales, seals and many sea birds. The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group provides regular information on sightings. In early 2010, a group of scientists filming a documentary on whale migration were treated to the extremely rare sight of a wild Humpback whale breaching 11 times in 40 minutes. It made National news in Ireland, as well as forming an enthralling part of the completed documentary. You can charter a boat to see these wonderful creatures for yourself while holidaying with us in your holiday home at Kilmore Cottage. Seals are a regular sight in Kilmore Quay as they hover about hoping for fishermen to toss them a few fish. They are wild animals though, so don’t put your hand near

Ballyteigue Burrow in Kilmore Quay is an area of conservation.
