Tacumshane Windmill, built in 1846, is the only surviving complete windmill in the Republic of Ireland. It’s beside a pub and restaurant, only 15 minutes drive away, and well worth a visit when you are enjoying your vacation in Kilmore Cottage, our holiday letting with a difference. Virtually all of the timber used in building this mill was from driftwood or timber from shipwrecks. A rare feature of this windmill is its revolving straw thatched cap roof to catch the wind for its sails. The building is now in the care of the Board of Works and a key to access the building is available from the adjacent Meyler’s pub and restaurant. This unique attraction is off the beaten track, (and then some!) and the Sat Nav is N 52.12° 131’ W 006.25° 494’

Dunbrody, apart from the Abbey ruins, has a well grown maze and it is quite a fun way to spend an afternoon. On ou last trip a lipstick pencil had to be employed on the map just to get out alive!
