Wexford Town

Wexford town is a short 20 minute drive away from Kilmore Cottage, and it offers some unique shops – it still has a local town feel and the main street is pedestrianised. It’s an old Viking town, founded in about 800 AD and there is still lots of evidence of that heritage. The quay front is very pretty, with boats tied up and there is a tree-lined lovely board- walk with lots of seating. The town is home to the National  Opera House and Wexford Arts Centre, both have year around entertainment programmes. The Festival Opera at  the end of every October / early November, and apart from Opera, it brings with it art exhibitions and a Wexford Fringe Festival which showcases comedy, music, plays and entertainement of all kinds
